The journey of Atlas

Extraction and Block selection

It all starts with the selection of blocks that will be used for the quarrying operation. Our team of experts assess the stone quality, size of the blocks, and the location of the deposit. Once the blocks have been selected, the next step is to extract them from the quarry. We use a variety of methods, including drilling, blasting, and sawing applied with the latest machinery. The blocks are then transported to our processing plant where they are cut into slabs and tiles.

Multi wire block cutting machine

We have equipped our processing facilities with large, best-in-industry, gang-saw machines. The stone blocks are fed to the gang-saw machine, which consists of a circular steel frame within which various vertical chains are fixed. The block is placed on the platform of the saw that revolves around it. Wire saws of these large machines use a wire with a diamond coating to cut the block. Since all the machines are latest and tech-driven, they efficiently cut the blocks in a very short period of time.

Single Blades Block Cutting

The single blade block cutting process can be said to be a breakthrough in the methods used in stone quarries. In contrast to the traditional cutting process, it only uses a single blade cutting machine to cut and lift stone blocks. This method is very effective in saving time and labor costs. The end-product is harder, more dense, and overall superior quality.

Grinding

This process helps shape and smoothen the surface of the stone. The process typically involves applying a slurry of abrasive particles to the stone’s surface, which are then moved across the surface using the grinding wheel. The grinding wheel is typically mounted on a machine that uses a rotating motion to drive the wheel and apply force to the stone. The abrasive particles in the slurry remove material from the stone as they move across its surface, reducing its size and changing its shape.

Epoxy application

Epoxy coatings are frequently employed in stone processing plants as a barrier against moisture, abrasion, and corrosion. The use of epoxy coatings during stone preparation has a number of advantages. It improves resistance to stains and spills, boosts durability and resistance to wear and tear, improves look, and raises the value of the stone.

Polishing Finishing Types

Polished

To achieve a polished finish, the stone is typically ground down using a grinding wheel or other abrasive tool, and a slurry of abrasive particles, such as diamonds or silicon carbide. A polished finish on a stone can enhance its natural beauty and make it more attractive.

Leather

A leather finish on a stone is a textured, matte finish that is achieved by using abrasive materials to create a series of small, evenly spaced indentations on the surface of the stone. This type of finish is often used on natural stone, such as granite or marble, to add a unique, rustic look to the surface.

Flamed

A flamed finish on a stone is a rough, textured finish that is created by exposing the surface of the stone to high heat. To create a flamed finish, the stone is heated using a gas flame or other heat source. This process causes the surface of the stone to become rough and porous, and it can also change the color of the stone.

Box Packaging

Packaging of stones is a critical step in our manufacturing and transit process. The stones are carefully packed in a box or container made of sturdy materials, such as cardboard or wood, to protect them during shipping and handling. We ensure that the box is large enough to accommodate the size and shape of the stones. It is designed to secure the stones and prevent them from shifting or breaking during transport. The box also includes padding or other protective materials, such as bubble wrap or foam, to further protect the stones. Valuable stones are box-packed with additional security features, such as locks or seals, to prevent tampering or theft.

Dispatch

During the dispatch process, we typically prepare for shipping, select a transportation method, and coordinate the delivery to the destination. The transportation method for the stones depends on the distance of the shipment, the value of the stones, and some other factors. Depending on the destination, the stones may be shipped by road, rail, air, or water. The delivery of the stones is coordinated with the recipient to ensure that the stones are delivered to the correct location and in a timely manner.
